Dancing makes you smarter

Written by admin on . Posted in Articles No Comments

It was a delightful surprise to find this group of people dancing in Saigon park. Apparently this activity took place every day as part of their morning exercises.

Those of us who dance know how enjoyable and beneficial dancing is for our body and mind as well as our emotional health and wellbeing. Moreover, it has been proven scientifically that dancing is beneficial in the direct treatment of a number of conditions including arthritis, Parkinson’s disease, dementia and depression. Taking part in ballroom dancing has been shown to reduce the chances of getting dementia by 76%. (Bupa’s report: Keep Dancing – 2011)

I have done many forms of dance. My most favourite one is Argentine Tango. For me, it is more than just a dance. It is a form of mindfulness meditation.

The beauty of tango is connection. In order to connect one needs to be present. One needs to be aware, alert and focused. One needs to let go and dance from the inside. Every dance is an opportunity for a blissful experience.

Imagine if you could connect with yourself and the world around you in your daily life, how happy you would feel with a sense of fulfilment and contentment!

Come to our mindful tango workshops and explore the beauty of tango and the power of mindfulness.

Q: I am already a dancer and enjoying tango, how will Mindful Tango help me? A: Whether you’re an experienced tango dancer or a beginner, Mindful Tango will show you how to deepen your experiences on the dance floor and how to extend these experiences to create beautiful moments in your daily life.
